The Denver Nuggets had a bit of housekeeping to take care of today. The team announced today that they have exercised the options on Emmanuel Mudiay, Jusuf Nurkic and Gary Harris.
Because all three players are on rookie contracts, the team has an option to extend their contract for a year after the initial two years of the players contracts are up. They can do this for up to two years in a row. You might be thinking to yourself that Mudiay has only played one year so far so this doesn’t make sense but the NBA has a deadline of October 31st to announce if teams are picking up the options on their players for NEXT season. Clearly this was a no brainer on all three of Denver’s players who have rookie options so the team got the business out of the way early and made their announcement today. Next season will be far more interesting when Mudiay, Jamal Murray, Juancho Hernangomez and Malik Beasley all will have options that the Nuggets will have to make decisions on.
