As expected, Kenneth Faried made the final cut for the Team USA roster for the FIBA world cup that will get underway in Spain at the end of the month. Congratulations to Faried, and we hope that the lessons he takes from this experience in international basketball help him in the next season.
There’s no telling HOW this will affect his current contract negotiations (the Nuggets have until just before the regular season starts to sign Faried to an early extension … before Faried becomes a restricted free agent at the end of next season) … however it may be in the Nuggets best interest to let the next season play out and see what Faried garners in free agency before resigning him. Faried is playing well in the context of being around other stars, but it remains to be seen if that will translate to the NBA regular season. For Nuggets fans sake, we hope that it does.
Also, Kevin Love was finally traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers … ending two months of drama and speculation. This was inevitable, and in actuality, considering the haul that the Timberwolves got in return for Love (Andrew Wiggins, Anthony Bennett, Thaddeus Young) it was damn impressive of Flip Saunders to pull off. The Cavs, meanwhile, will be odds on favorites to win the Eastern Conference with their star contingent featuring LeBron James.
Only time will tell right?
Have a good weekend
