The Nuggets return to action Sunday, Oct. 21st, at 6:00 p.m. (MTN) to face the Oklahoma City Thunder in OKC.
Benjamin Hochman, Denver Post, has an article up talking about the Nuggets most talked about player this preseason – JaVale McGee. Complete with some quotes from head coach George Karl, like this one:
"My philosophy with big men is to run the court, rebound the ball. Then finish around the basket and get easy shots around the basket. Have the footwork. The last thing on the list is post moves." -George Karl
I don't know about the rest of you, but I was really expecting to see a totally different player on the court this season with McGee. I must admit, that was the wrong line of thinking by me. McGee is still developing and will need time with this team, with a more set rotation, more confidence, and more practice.
While we should see some difference right away once the regular season begins, we also must understand that McGee is still working his way to become that different player we all want him to be.
Hochman also included a tidbit about Wilson Chandler’s return. I was very glad to see Chandler back on the court after a seven-month absence. He’s trying to shake off the rust, but being back out there and getting some game action will do him good. He did record 4 rebound and 1 steal, but missed all four of his shots on offense. Again, it was nice to see him trusting his body and driving the ball Wednesday night in Portland. One of his misses was flushed back home by McGee – don’t be surprised to see those two on the court a lot together this season with the second unit.
Wednesday night we didn’t see Corey Brewer (rest), Ty Lawson (sore elbow), or Ben Uzoh. Quincy Miller has yet to see any preseason action and that’s no surprise and Karl is giving his usual wings nights off to provide more game-like minutes for others. We could see Q later on in the preseason, but don’t hold your breath.

He’ll still miss a lot of time (10-20 games) to start the season, but won’t require surgery. Ricky Rubio isn’t expected back until mid-December and is coming off a torn ACL.

After injuring his back people feared Howard wouldn't play until January or perhaps February, but in Superman like fashion he has been back. Even photos of Howard dunking weeks ago with full force …
