When Masai Ujiri took the GM job with the Toronto Raptors he cleaned a little house with the dismissal of scout Alvin Williams and some other employees. We could see Tim Connelly wanting to bring in some of his own people too as the Nuggets have now lost director of player personnel Mike Bratz and scouting director Dan Tolzman, according to Chris Dempsey of the Denver Post.
Bratz’s and Tolman’s departures bring the number of front office individuals (including the coach) not returning to the Nuggets for next season up to five – coach George Karl, Ujiri, vice president of basketball operations Pete D’Alessandro, Bratz and Tolzman.
Tolzman will be joining Ujiri in Toronto, according to Dempsey, and no word on where Bratz will he headed. I did find it curious today that Bratz was not in attendance at the pre-draft workout after he had been at the previous two workouts and spoke with the media both times.
The only scout remaining is Herb Livsey and he was in attendance today at Pepsi Center and could be seen chatting with team president Josh Kroenke.
I would expect Connelly to make some hires in the coming weeks to fill out the vacancies in the scouting department.
