Here is a tweet from our friends Les Shapiro and Tom Nalen as they had Masai Ujiri on shortly after the NBA trade deadline expired:
<blockquote class=”twitter-tweet”><p>Ujiri says phones were ringing on Mozgov, but “we don’t know how good Mozgov can be, yet” <a href=”https://twitter.com/search/%23Nuggets“>#Nuggets</a> <a href=”https://twitter.com/search/%23NBA”>#NBA</a></p>— Les and Nalen (@LesAndNalen) <a href=”https://twitter.com/LesAndNalen/status/304694762366193665″>February 21, 2013</a></blockquote>

So … does this mean they intend to keep Timofey Mozgov long term? Or is this GM speak for “we didn’t get the right offer, so we are just going to roll the dice”? To be honest, I have no idea. Doesn’t seem practical to keep a third 7 foot center on your roster who rarely plays and makes $3 million. Maybe the Nuggets have a grand plan in mind? That, I guess, resides only in the mind of Masai Ujiri and Josh Kroenke.
In the meantime, the Nuggets will stand pat the rest of this year. I'm perfectly fine with this. The core needed to grow together without the specter of constant trades hanging over their heads, and I think Masai knew that as well. Plus, it seemed as if the Nuggets (according to reports) were not interested in deals where they took on extra money. This could either mean they wanted to cut salary with a potential Moz trade … OR … Masai really means what he says and they wanted to keep Mozgov because they see potential in him.
Either way, this was an extremely boring trade deadline. Josh Smith didn’t even get traded (althought J.J. Redick got traded in a three-team deal to the Milwaukee Bucks). So, uneventful is the word of the day.
What are your thoughts Nuggets fans?
