On Sept. 28th, rumors about the Nuggets having interest in former Cleveland Cavaliers forward Alonzo Gee, according to Shams Charania/RealGM, the Nuggets have now signed Gee to an undisclosed deal.
Free agent forward Alonzo Gee has reached agreement on a deal with the Denver Nuggets, a source with knowledge told RealGM.
After deciding on Monday to join the Nuggets, Gee will report to Denver training camp Tuesday.
As one of the best players on the available market, the 6-foot-6 forward brings active defense and athleticism on the wing for the Nuggets.
Gee appeared in 65 games for the Cleveland Cavaliers last season, including 24 starts. He averaged 4.0 points and 2.3 rebounds last season, including shooing just 41.5% from the field and 32.8% from deep. He's 6'6", 220 pounds, 27 years-old and has some defensive toughness. Gee could pose a threat to Quincy Miller for a roster spot – even though Q is the much younger player at 21 years old (he'll be 22 in Nov.).
If I had to do some guesswork, I’d think that Gee is going to be on some type of partially guaranteed deal and they’ll see if he can earn a spot during camp. Lots of bodies in camp at the forward position, and that’s good as Danilo Gallinari will be brought along slowly. Plus, the Nuggets could use some toughness with a guy like Gee.
Jeff Morton has boots on the ground today at Nuggets practice, we'll have more when it becomes available.
