The Denver Nuggets may have their power forward continuity going from bad to worse, as Jared Weiss of The Athletic is reporting that the Boston Celtics are showing “strong interest” in free agent Paul Millsap.
The 35 year old Millsap is no longer the All Star power forward he once was, but can still fill a vital role as a big man on a contender in limited minutes, and happens to be the one power forward that Denver can still allocate money to, as they have his Bird Rights and can pay him essentially whatever they choose if he re-signs with them. Denver was reported to be open to his return, but no one knows what Millsap is open to, or what price it might cost Denver to retain its veteran big man.
The Celtics being in the market for a big man may drive the price up for Denver, but the question remains whether he is open to returning. Without Millsap coming back, Denver has JaMychal Green as the only veteran at the 4 spot, with second year man Vlatko Cancar and rookie Zeke Nnaji backing him up. With Denver’s glut of guards and the reported signing of point guard Facundo Campazzo it would be an even stronger indicator of Denver’s need for a trade if Millsap chooses to go elsewhere.
