According to Michael Scotto of Basketball Insiders the Denver Nuggets and Phoenix Suns have had conversations regarding a trade centered around Emmanuel Mudiay and Eric Bledsoe
Scotto’s tweet comes after a whirlwind 24 hour period where Bledsoe tweeted out “I don’t want to be here” and then was sent home from shoot around by the Suns after trying to pass off that tweet as wanting to get out of a hair salon (no, seriously, you can’t make this stuff up). What’s not clear is if Scotto has any sort of new info regarding a Mudiay/Bledsoe deal or if he is merely recycling the draft day rumor that was going around about the Nuggets and Suns potentially working out a trade of their point guards.
Bledsoe would fill a hole in Denver. Neither Jamal Murray or Mudiay has shown they are ready to take on the task of being the starting point guard of a potential playoff team. That being said, neither of them has been awful in the early onset of the season either. While Bledsoe certainly represents an upgrade right now over either, that may not be the case even as soon as by the end of this season. He would most certainly start so a trade of Mudiay to get him not only ends Mudiay’s chances to develop with Denver, but also relegates Murray back to the bench and one has to wonder what that would do to his development as well.
