Stump the Stiffs, and the NBA season, is in full swing! The Nuggets subreddit has held the lead virtually the whole way, but have yet to be able to separate from the pack. Meanwhile, the Stiffs Staff is smartly luring the other two groups into a false sense of security while preparing for a second half run of pure basketball wisdom driven dominance…did you buy that? No? We’ve got a nice set of picks this week with the hometown Denver Nuggets looking for revenge against the Minnesota Timberwolves, a balanced plate of one Eastern Conference match up, one Western Conference match up and one inter conference match up, and finally we’ll top it off with the big UFC fight this weekend.
The Stiffs Staff is represented this week by our staff accountant (ok not really) and master of the written word, Gordon Gross. The Stiffs commenters are bringing their own resident cynic this week with none other than RockyMountainWay. Finally, the user from down under /u/teensonacid will be making the selections for the Nuggets subreddit. Let's get to the picks.

Timberwolves at Nuggets | Timberwolves | Nuggets | Timberwolves |

Trailblazers at Suns | Suns | Trailblazers | Trailblazers |
Hornets at Grizzlies | Grizzlies | Grizzlies | Hornets |
UFC 194: Aldo vs McGregor | McGregor | McGregor | McGregor |
Gordon Gross: The Timberwolves had the Nuggets’ number last time they tangled, and with Denver’s injury situation I don’t think anything will have changed. T-Wolves win. The Pacers are at home against the Heat and Paul George is beasting. They’ve lost their last 3 but one was in OT and the other was to Golden State. Give Indiana the W. The Blazers are playing better than a lot of pundits expected, but I don’t think they can contain Phoenix’s point guards in the battle of the little back court players, so I’m going with the Suns. I don’t think the Hornets can go into the Grindhouse and outlast the Grizzlies at that kind of ball, so Memphis is my pick. And in the UFC battle, because I think McGregor can keep it off the ground long enough to hurt Aldo and stop the fight. If it goes the distance it probably Aldo’s, but I don’t think it will.
RockyMountainWay: I want to pick the Nuggets at home here, but the trend of this team, unfortunately, has been in the wrong direction lately, especially at the once friendly confines of Pepsi Center where they are an abysmal 3-7. The Timberwolves have some great talent and it’s beginning to show a little now. The latest first overall pick, Karl-Anthony Towns, is tearing it up and will be a nightmare for the likes of J.J. Hickson or whoever is attempting to defend him. And yet, as truly awful as the Nuggets have looked recently, I’ll take them to win in a very close game as the Wolves are still young and inconsistent. If Denver can win, it will be the first time in a month that they have at home, wow. The ESPN game with the Miami Heat at the Pacers should be good. I do like Miami’s roster even with LeBron James not on it. The Pacers won the last time by three with Paul George going off, but I’ll go with the Heat in a game that could go either way. As for the Blazers at Suns, going with the road team and the team with Damian Lillard on it. The Memphis Grizzlies have come back down this season and really don’t look like a great team, but I think at home they find a way to win an ugly game against the Hornets, who actually are playing very well this season. As for the UFC fight? No idea, so I’ll go with McGregor, only because McGregor is a fun name to say in a Scottish accent.
/u/teensonacid: I haven't picked against our boys all season long so this one stings a little. KAT and Wiggins will be too much to handle, Wolves. PG has been playing out of his mind lately so I expect him to go off against Miami, Pacers. This one will be tight, but I think the Blazers will be fired up after the Cleveland loss. Blazers! Another tight one, I don't know if the Grizz have what it takes to get past the young Hornets. I'm with Charlotte on this one. GET ON THE CONOR HYPE TRAIN BABY. This is going to be insane. Aldo will throw everything at him but Conor will take it all.
