The Denver Nuggets blew out the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday night in a game that wasn’t nearly as close as the score appears, and the win can almost solely be attributed to the play of Nikola Jokic. While pretty much everyone else on the Nuggets struggled to score besides Paul Millsap and Will Barton, Jokic absolutely tore up the Brooklyn defense all night long from all over the court. The Joker finished with a career-high 41 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks in a completely dominant performance.
Early in the fourth quarter, Jokic committed his fifth foul of the game and was subsequently taken out of the game with 37 points. In his absence, however, the Nuggets offense failed to get anything going, and despite a commanding lead the Joker was re-inserted into the game to solidify the win. He quickly put up four additional points to best his career high set last season at Madison Square Garden, then fouled out of the game. As he walked to the bench he was given a standing ovation from the Pepsi Center crowd and even received “MVP” chants, a welcome sight for a Nuggets player.
When Jokic is aggressive and has his sights set on scoring the ball he is unstoppable. Relive the highlights of Jokic’s historic night below!
