The Nuggets' coaching search will get started now, according to Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski. There are several re-tread names on the list, and Woj says the Nuggets will seriously consider interim head coach Melvin Hunt. Here are those names:
Nuggets general manager Tim Connelly and president Josh Kroenke plan a broad search with a candidate list that will include – among others – ex-head coaches Michael Malone, Mike D'Antoni, Scott Skiles and Alvin Gentry, league sources said.
Portland Trail Blazers assistant coach David Vanterpoool will be one of a handful of assistant coaches contacted about the job, sources said.
The search will include several college coaching candidates, including Florida's Billy Donovan and Iowa State's Fred Hoiberg, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
Woj also listed current Oklahoma City coach Scott Brooks (another former George Karl assistant) as a strong possibility, too. Brooks' future in OKC appears to be in doubt. Woj also says others could be considered, meaning some names that might become available that are currently coaching in the playoffs, or others.
Luckily for you folks, our Adam Mares had an incredible breakdown of some of the candidates listed above, including Hunt, D'Antoni, Gentry, and Hoiberg. You can find those by clicking right here.
